Cursed Times, Yet Again....

I just came to know that today, another neighbor succumbed due to this pandemic. Few days ago, another one, right behind my place, recovered first, later had developed some issue in his lungs, passed away. This marks 9 deaths so far, with 3 in the series of homes next to where I am.  Heard that UK has found more coronavirus cases with 'concerning' mutations. Today, in a different city in the state, in a school of young kids, as much as 15 kids and few teachers came out to be infected and the school had to shut down. Not sure what to say. Mind just goes numb hearing all these news. That's all!

Today's news just brought the memory of few months ago. I wrote about one of my neighbors who also didn't survive. Later his last ritual ceremony was there which I didn't attend cos of so much rush. It's still difficult to fathom that he is no more and the effing tale of these bad times is still going on.

Few days ago, I was called by above-mentioned neighbor's son to help being a witness for his father's life insurance policies. I did go. It was like a deja-vu moment. I could see him being lost, slightly scared but trying to put on a brave face as his mom was sitting there too. He was talking to the insurance person, asking him the details. Just like, how I was! One thing that did strike so hard was when he said, for 2 months, he kept on running from pillar to post and no one did help him. And when his father was alive, on occasions, festivals, people came in queues to give gifts etc. As much as the house was a bustling place, now it feels like, there is no one who lives there. The only visible person is the maid who works there and is visible while cleaning the house. Breaks the heart into pieces but worse thing is, you can't do anything. It's was just heart wrenching to see. So much! Yes, it's very easy to say one must stay strong and what not. But for a guy, who has to now need to leave spending time with his friends, look at his home and family first and ensure that he stays put in doing so for the rest of his life cos now, no one, none, is there to put their feet in his shoes. Yeah happens to all but unless it doesn't happen, NO ONE really gets it how hard it hits! People see you doing chores etc. and think yeah it's all good. This guy has finally taken over the control. But what they don't know that's it's a daily fight which this guy will fight all alone, for the rest of his life.
